The federal state of Saxony-Anhalt has enjoyed a long industrial tradition. The State Office Saxony-Anhalt supports the federal government, the state, the local business community and civil society in promoting Germany as a cosmopolitan centre of education and business.
Our work focuses on China, Vietnam and the Central and Eastern European countries of Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine. We offer participants from these countries training seminars on such issues as renewable energy sources, environmental technology and tourism. Sustainable economic development is also a central topic addressed by our programme range.
To this end, we cooperate with federal and state institutions, the European Union, the International Labour Organisation (ILO), organisations of German development cooperation and international governmental and non-governmental organisations, associations, chambers, firms and educational institutions in Saxony-Anhalt.
Over the years we have developed numerous professional contacts to the state government of Saxony-Anhalt, in particular in development cooperation designed to address business and the economy. Public private partnerships (PPP), cooperative efforts of representatives from the business community and public administrations, are also continuing to increase in importance.
The "Tomorrow’s Partners" state programme helps companies from Saxony-Anhalt gain access to international markets. The State Office Saxony-Anhalt programmes projects in Namibia, South Africa and Vietnam.
GIZ's Magdeburg office is home to the "Modern Media and Curricula Development in Vocational Education" division. This department works closely with the State Office Saxony-Anhalt. Both have their offices in the One World House in Magdeburg.
