Stae Office Saxony

Crossing borders

At the point of intersection of Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic, Saxony thrives on cross-national exchange. The State Office Saxony has worked with the Free State of Saxony for more than ten years now. We also cooperate with state universities and other institutions of higher learning. Our work creates bridges between Germany and its direct neighbours.

Training and dialogue programmes

We focus on issues affecting the environment, natural resources and food in addition to sustainable management. The GIZ "Natural Resources and Biodiversity" division is also located in Leipzig/Zschortau.

We offer participants from sub-Saharan Africa and the Chinese provinces of Hebei, Hangzhou and Chongquing advanced training seminars and field trips on sustainable management. We also support public private partnerships (PPP) between firms from Saxony and developing and transition countries.

The International Conference Centre in Leipzig/Zschortau is a special feature of the State Office Saxony. It is open to all parties and institutions who deal with questions affecting worldwide advanced training and development and is a forum for German and international cooperation.

Education for development

We offer seminars and workshops as part of our development policy education programme designed to communicate the goals of German development policy to the population of Saxony. We also link those active in development policy in the region with one another. Additionally we encourage intercultural dialogue between international participants in our advanced training programmes and citizens and civil society initiatives in Saxony including the Development Policy Network Saxony e.V.

Bridge to the business community

Saxony is a centre of science and business that is well prepared to face the future. Together with the business community of Saxony, we organise seminars and professional advanced training and work-study programmes in individual firms. We focus on topics that influence logistics/transport including road construction, environmental and drinking water/waste water management, promoting the economy and renaturation/post-mining reclaimed land. We offer advising services to young professionals from firms in Saxony interested in work-study experience abroad in the European Union, North and South America, Africa or Asia.
