State Office Hesse/Rhineland-Palatinate

At the centre of Europe

The federal states of Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate number among Europe’s strongest economic regions. Their location at the heart of Germany and excellent infrastructure make both states economic leaders. The State Office Hesse/Rhineland-Palatinate sees itself as a partner to the business communities in Hessen and Rhineland-Palatinate and works closely with the local governments and civil society of these two federal states.

Training and dialogue

Our work addresses central topics such as promoting economies, management training, environment and technology along with water and wastewater management. Our range is custom-tailored to speak to companies and organizations in Vietnam, China, Mongolia and India, Chile, Brazil, Argentina and Columbia, as well as in countries from Central and Eastern Europe. Our human capacity building programs include qualified lectures, company visits and in-company internship for the participants. The programs are aimed at promoting sustainable foreign trade relationships and increase partnership relations between companies in Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse and the partner regions.

In the interest of the state government of Hesse, the State Office Hesse/Rhineland-Palatinate qualifies executives from Vietnam. Through advanced training in the field of water and waste water management as well as management training we support the state government's contribution to Vietnam's environmentally economic development.

We organize study tours and run advanced training programs for young professionals from Central and Eastern European as well as Brazilian and Chilean companies and economic organizations on behalf of the Ministry for Economics of Rhineland-Palatinate. These programs primarily address the topics of sustainable development, renewable energies, environmental technology and mechanical and power engineering.

International Circles

The International Circle (IK) in Frankfurt is a forum for intercultural dialogue and exchange. Organized by GIZ volunteers, the International Circle invites program fellows and interested citizens to take part in cultural events, seminars and excursions.

Bridge to the business community

We cannot achieve sustainable development, shape globalization fairly, battle poverty and reduce it by 50% worldwide by 2015 if the business community is not directly involved. GIZ supports German businesses in their efforts on behalf of development and offers seminars and dialogue events on topics such as "corporate social responsibility (CSR)", "intercultural skills for decision-making and responsibility" and "sustainable company management". Companies and individuals involved in the Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft Business Group forums in Hessen and Rhineland-Palatinate support our work.
