Application

Target Group

The programme of the International Institute for Journalism (IIJ) is open to journalists from print and online publications as well as from news agencies in the countries of Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

Applicants are expected to:

  • have a minimum of four years of professional experience
  • have an established track record in reporting on the subject of the training course
  • be in permanent employment with good chances of promotion
  • be proficient in English

Women journalists are particularly encouraged to apply.

Accommodation

Inwent provides accommodation and a food allowance to cover meals for the duration of the courses. All other expenses are the responsibility of the participants.

International Flight Arrangements

All expenses associated with international travel must be covered by the successful applicants’ employers. In certain instances, unless otherwise stipulated in the bilateral agreement between the Federal Republic of Germany and the applicant’s home country, Inwent may provide round trip tickets to the training facility from the nearest international airport in the respective home countries. Inwent will not cover any other expenses incurred in the home countries related to travelling abroad. If Inwent provides international flight tickets, they will be economy class reservations in accordance with the regulations of IATA-airlines.
