Wieczorek-Zeul praises development in Benin

The Utstein Group, a union of the women development ministers of Germany and Norway, Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul and Hilde Johnson, and their former colleagues in the Netherlands and Britain, Eveline Herfkens and Clare Short, were presented with the Development Prize of the Center for Global Development (CGD) and the magazine Foreign Policy on April 29. Herfkens and Johnson (second and third from left respectively) received the award from Foreign Policy publisher Moisés Naím and CGD President Nancy Birdsall. In her eulogy, Deputy UN Secretary-General Rima Khalaf Hunaidi said the Group had shown that far more could be achieved in development policy by joint initiatives than by acting alone. Wieczorek-Zeul expressed her thanks for the cooperation to date and emphasised the importance of the international development goals.
